Marcus joined the Hathorn staff in 2011 as a Pre-Need Counselor, and he was later named the Manager in 2016. With a diverse educational background that includes studies at Mississippi State University, William Carey University, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Marcus brings both compassion and leadership to the families he serves.
Having ministered and pastored in several churches throughout south Mississippi, Marcus understands the deep responsibility and privilege of guiding families through times of loss. He and his wife, Susan, are the proud parents of two sons, Camden and Callen, and are passionate advocates for Autism Awareness.
Outside of the funeral home, Marcus enjoys working in the yard, grilling, and cheering on Mississippi State Bulldogs athletics as a devoted fan.

David Hathorn

David was born and raised in Columbia. He put his roots down in Columbia after graduating from Columbia High School. In 1967, upon graduation from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, he began a devoted career in funeral service. Serving the people of Marion County for sixty plus years has made David a pillar in the community. He has helped countless families in their deepest time of need. He and his wife, Nan, are members of Brushy Creek Baptist Church. David is an avid turkey hunter and loves the outdoors.

Ashley is a licensed embalmer & funeral director. She joined the staff of Hathorn Funeral Home in 2011.
Raised in the New Union community, Ashley is a longtime member of New Union Missionary Baptist Church. Further reflecting her commitment to caring for others during difficult times, she serves the citizens of Marion County and Jefferson Davis County as a Deputy Coroner.
Ashley is married to Christian Nibert, and together they have two children, Kourtney and Brennan Wells. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, and spending quiet evenings at home with family.

Hathorn Funeral Home welcomed Chris to its staff in 2020. Before entering the funeral profession, Chris served as a teacher at Columbia High School, where he made a lasting impact on students and the community. During his time there, he led the Wildcat Marching Band Color Guard program, helping guide the band to seven State Championships.
Chris earned degrees from Copiah-Lincoln Community College and the University of Southern Mississippi. He is also an ordained minister who has faithfully served congregations throughout Marion County. Chris currently serves as Minister of Music at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Columbia.
Chris and his wife, Sherri, are proud parents of two daughters, Brianna and Carson Lawley.

Haegan is a native of Lawrence County, Mississippi. He is an ordained minister, life recovery instructor, and has served in many different capacities throughout his time in ministry. Since 2021, Haegan has been a part of the funeral industry. Serving as our Family Service Counselor, he has developed a passion for helping others and assisting families as they plan for the future. A devoted family man, he is a husband and father of two girls. He and his family are faithful members of Woodlawn Church in Columbia. Angela joined the Hathorn staff in 2025 as our Administrative Assistant. With years of experience working in the offices of doctors’ clinics and hospitals, Angela brings professionalism, organization, and compassionate care to the families and community she serves.
A longtime resident of Marion County, Angela and her husband, Jonathan Turnage, make their home in Columbia. Funeral service is truly a family affair for Angela, as she is the niece of David Hathorn and the sister-in-law of Chris Turnage. Her caring nature and dedication make her a valued part of the Hathorn Funeral Home family.

A resident of Foxworth, Don is known for his professionalism, compassion, and dedicated care for the families he serves. He is married to his wife, Charlotte, and values the relationships he has built within the community over these years.

Bro. A.D. is a longtime pastor and friend to the people of Marion County. He has worked on staff at Hathorn since 2009 and is a Licensed Funeral Director. Recently retiring as pastor of the Lakeview Church of God in Columbia, A.D. has always seen his work at the funeral home as an extension of his Gospel ministry. He always cherishes the opportunity to offer service with compassion to all of our families. A.D. and his lovely wife, Diane, have lived in Marion County since 1997. They enjoy traveling and spending time with their grandchildren.

Kris was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. In 2018, he felt a calling to relocate his family to Columbia, Mississippi, where he joined the team at Hathorn Funeral Home in January of 2019. Through dedication and hard work, Kris completed the apprenticeship program and earned his Funeral Director license after two years.
Over the past seven years, it has been his privilege to walk alongside families during some of life’s most difficult moments, providing compassionate care and support. Kris remains actively involved with Hathorn Funeral Home and continues to be an important part of its community and mission.
Kris and his wife, Kendra, are the proud parents of two children, Harlow and Judah. Together they serve faithfully on the pastoral staff at Woodlawn Church, where they have held various roles. For the past three years, they have served as Children’s Pastors, investing in the lives of young families in their community.

Reggie is lifetime resident of the Foxworth community and began working at Hathorn in 2017. He serves as a Funeral Ambassador, hosting our evening visitations. You may also see Reggie assisting on funerals, gravesides, and memorial services. Reggie attends Foxworth Baptist Church, where he is a dedicated deacon and Sunday School teacher.

In 2019 Norma retired from the Marion County Coroner’s position. She served the people for an amazing thirty-three years. Norma has also spent time in the healthcare industry as a nurse at Marion General Hospital, Orleans Furniture, and as an EMT. Continuing to share her heart of service, even in retirement, Norma now assists as our Funeral Ambassador for visitations. She is a long-time member of Woodlawn Church. She enjoys spending time with her seven children and numerous grandchildren.

Drew is a lifelong resident of the Cedar Grove community and has been serving families in the funeral profession for more than ten years. A 2009 graduate of Columbia High School, Drew is known for his quiet nature, compassionate heart, and respectful care for the families he serves.
Drew is a faithful and devoted member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where he also teaches a weekly RA class for young boys. His commitment to serving others, both in his church and in the community, reflects the kindness and integrity he brings to his work each day.
In his free time, Drew enjoys passionately following and watching all of his favorite sports teams: the University of Alabama Crimson Tide, the Tennessee Titans, the Anaheim Angels, the Utah Jazz, and the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.

Paul Moore recently relocated to Mississippi from California, bringing with him a lifelong commitment to serving others. Before retirement, Paul faithfully served with the Vallejo Flood and Wastewater District, where he built a reputation for hard work and dependability.
Today, Paul serves as the Maintenance Director at Woodlawn Church, where he is also a devoted and active member. Known for his servant’s heart and caring spirit, Paul enjoys helping others and making a positive impact within the community.
Paul is married to his beautiful wife, Shawnacee, and together they are blessed with six children — five daughters and one son. They are also proud grandparents to seven grandchildren, with two more on the way.

Randy grew up in the Society Hill Community in Jeff Davis County, but he has lived in Columbia for the past 30 years. Randy joined Hathorn Funeral Home in 2021 after he retired as Supervisor for Marion County. He is an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Columbia where he serves as deacon.
Randy and his wife, Freda, have a daughter (Kelly Hurst and husband, Zack) and four grandchildren. When he's not working, Randy enjoys the outdoors and working in his yard.
