RACHEL PRISK ARONSON

Rachel Prisk Aronson

Rachel Faye Prisk Aronson
78, Covington

Forever a paragon of elegance, Rachel Faye Prisk Aronson now rests with the Lord. She left this life on Thursday, July 4, 2019, surrounded by her daughter. Deidre, her sister, Barbara, and her granddaughter, Catherine.

She was born on October 12, 1940 in Walthall County, Mississippi to parents William Ratliff and Edgie Lee McKenzie Prisk. Her maternal grandparents, Thomas and Annie Williams McKenzie, also played a large role in her upbringing.

Rachel attended Columbia High School where she was a majorette for three years, as well as a member of the track team. She was on the homecoming court and was a leader in civic clubs in town, serving as president of the Dusty Club for two consecutive years. She was an accomplished horseback rider, as is her granddaughter, Catherine Zaunbrecher.

Rachel graduated from high school at Stephens in Columbia, Missouri. It was there that she learned to fly small airplanes and received a pilot’s license.

Always the adventurer, Rachel lived all over the world, and traveled far and wide. She was a gourmet cook and loved entertaining in her home. She had a special affinity for animals – especially dogs and elephants.

She will be remembered by all who knew her as the woman who lit up every room into which she entered with her flair for fashion and her magnetic personality. She was a positive thinker, who fought her illness with courage and class. The family wishes to express thanks to Dr. Ricardo Blanco and his medical team at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center for their expert care.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Aronson, who loved her dearly, as did his sons; parents, Ratliff and Edgie Lee Prisk; and one brother, Jack Oakie Prisk.

She is survived by three daughters, Melissa Trotter, Wahneta Trotter, and Deidre Trotter; son, William Trotter III; father of her children, William E. Trotter II; two step-sons, Arthur Aronson, M.D., and Bruce H. Aronson (Lane); three sisters, Barbara Parker, Jo Ann Ball, Tommie Lee Jett; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A private graveside service will be held at 10 :00 AM on Monday, July 8, 2019 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia, MS. Dr. Bryant Barnes will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be William Trotter III, William Pierce, Frank Prisk, and Jeff Prisk. Honorary pallbearers will be William E. Trotter II and Robert Bourne.

Family and friends may sign an online guestbook at www.hathornfuneralhome.com. Donations may be made to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Covington, Louisiana, or to the charity of your choice.

Rachel’s sisters send a special thank you to daughter, Deidre Trotter, for the love and care she gave to her mother over the past fifteen months during her battle with cancer.
