Obituary

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Pleasant Hill Apostolic Church in Foxworth for William James Pittman, 83, of Foxworth, who passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Marion General Hospital in Columbia. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Apostolic Church Cemetery. Rev. W.D. Hibley and Rev. Carol Gatlin will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Pleasant Hill Apostolic Church and from 8:00 am up until service time on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Pleasant Hill Apostolic Church.

William, or "Nanner" as he was affectionately known, was a lifetime resident of Marion County. He loved hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He was a master gardener that loved growing vegetables and sharing with all of his family and friends. Blue Grass Gospel music was his favorite, and he will always be remembered for his great sense of humor. Very fond of games, William was the self-proclaimed champion of Checkers and Dominos. He was so proud of each of his children and took every opportunity to brag about their successes. He was a faithful member of Pine Burr Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Columbia.

He was preceded in death by his Wife, Gloria Kafati Pittman; his Parents, Toxie "T.H." Hall Pittman & Macle Jenkins Pittman; one Son, Frank James Pittman; one Daughter, Kristi Delora Pittman Popwell; two Brothers, Barney Pittman, Edward Doyle Pittman; five Sisters, Edwina McNabb, Pauline Lott, Evie Lee Robbins, Monette Massengale, Lanelle Stampley.

He is survived by his Wife, Joyce Brister Pittman, of Foxworth; three Sons, David James Pittman (Rhonda), of Metairie, Louisiana, Bentley Anthony Pittman (Luona), of Columbia, Ricky Joseph Pittman (Ariel), of Hattiesburg; three Daughters, Marilyn Lee Pittman McDaniel (John), of Tiger, Georgia, Amarylis Marie Pittman Caves (David), of Foxworth, Vanessa Faye Pittman Cerero (Carlos), of Columbia; one Brother, Jerry Dale Pittman, of Foxworth; one Sister, Sarah Ann Bridwell, of Henderson, Texas; fourteen Grandchildren, Hannah Miley, Brooke Burns, Colton Pittman, Preston Pittman, Harrison Cerero, Gabriel Cerero, Alex Pittman, Abby Pittman, Sophia Caves, Douglas McDaniel, Kate Kulenic, Olivia Caves, Breanna Popwell, Bradley Popwell; and five Great Grandchildren, Aida Burns, Gloria Pittman, Briggs Miley, Colby Kulenic, Rowan Kulenic.

Pallbearers will be Colton Pittman, Preston Pittman, Alex Pittman, Kendall Pittman, Greg Cox, and Trent Pittman. Honorary pallbearers will be Harrison Cerero and Gabriel Cerero.
