Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 7, 2020 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Virgil Carlos Stringer, 83, of Foxworth, who passed away Monday, August 3, 2020 at Forrest General Hospital. Interment will be at Lott Cemetery. Bro. Evan Sheridan will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Hathorn Funeral Home.

Mr. Virgil was a longtime resident of the New Hope Community and member of New Hope Baptist Church. He loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He was a good ole county boy that loved his granddaughter with all his heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Stringer was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Stringer; and parents, Willie and Carrie Stringer.

He is survived by his son, Heath Stringer of Foxworth, Mississippi; granddaughter, Carrie Stringer of Columbia, Mississippi; brother, B.B. Stringer of Foxworth, Mississippi; nieces, Belinda Stringer of Louisiana , and Jill Spears (Morris) of Louisiana, and great-niece, Makaila Gabriel of Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Sherman Pounds, Duwane Brumfield, Donald Lowery, Pud Stringer, Sherrell Magee and Terry Robertson.
