Obituary

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 28, 2025 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Timothy Reese "Tim" Kyzar, Sr., 69, of Columbia, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Asbury Hospice House. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia. Rev. Glenn Nace will officiate the services. Sissy Kyzar will provide special music.

The Kyzar family will receive friends on Friday morning, beginning at 9:00 am  until the time of service of 11:00 am at Hathorn Funeral Home.

Born April 17, 1956, Tim was a loving father, husband, and Pop whose greatest joy came from time spent with his family and grandchildren.

The son of the late Raymond "Tink" Kyzar and the late Lena Pearl Kyzar, Tim graduated from Pearl River Community College and Perkinston College. He enjoyed a distinguished career of more than 40 years in the oil industry, retiring from Saudi Aramco as a Drilling Superintendent.

An avid outdoorsman, Tim loved hunting, fishing, cooking, and golf, but nothing brought him greater happiness than being surrounded by his grandkids and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, sister Tinkie Kyzar and brothers Kenny and Ronnie Stewart.

Tim is survived by his devoted wife, Karla Kyzar; his sons, Reese Kyzar and wife Sissy, Richie Kyzar and wife Brooke, and Henry Kyzar, all of Columbia; his cherished grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Carley, Chloe, Maisey, Charlie, JB, and Tripp Kyzar; his sisters, Tammy Kyzar, Joy Shelton, and Sandy Donnelly; his uncle, Ned Stewart and wife Diane; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mr. Kyzar will be carried to his final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers; they include Monroe Bethae, Charlton Haddox, Scott Morgan, Chris Rogers, Randell Aultman, Steve Hathorn, Bryan Morgan, Dr. David Bullock, Dax Stewart, and Chad Porter. Honorary pallbearers will be Ned Stewart and George Stewart.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shriners Children's Hospital.

Tim will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kindness and the boundless love he had for his family. He was our patriarch that was always there for the people he loved. He took care of everyone and the world is a little less bright without him in it.
