Private services will be held for Sylvia Boyd Tolar, 80, of Columbia, who passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021. Bro. Darel Daniels will officiate the services. A public visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Hathorn Funeral Home.

Sylvia spent most of her life in Marion County. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker for her family. For years she was an accomplished cake decorator and baker, making memories for many birthdays and weddings. Sylvia loved her family and her Lord.

She was preceded in death by Husband of 60 years, Thomas Laroy Tolar; and her Parents, Dexter Boyd, Jr. & Lorene Reeves Boyd.

She is survived by her Son, Jeffrey Tolar (Terri), of Columbia; her Daughter, Jodie Thompson (Marlin), of Lumberton; one Sister, Betty Dettre, of Columbia; three Brothers, Jerry Boyd (Debbie), of Blodgett, Oregon, Jimmie Boyd (Susan), of Alexandria, Virginia, Morris Boyd (Dianne), of Columbia; four Grandchildren, Chris Tolar, of Columbia, Carey Tolar, of Hattiesburg, Benton Thompson, of Lumberton, Cody Thompson (Elisabeth), of Sumrall; and two Great-grandchildren, Samuel "Sam" Tolar, of Columbia, Eric Robinson, of Sumrall.

Pallbearers will be Chris Tolar, Carey Tolar, Benton Thompson, Cody Thompson, Trent Tolar, and Brett Boyd.
