With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Susie (Elizabeth Sue) McDaniel, who passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, January 19, 2026, at Forrest General Hospital.
Susie was born on May 14, 1948, in Columbia, Mississippi, to Fred Henry McDaniel, Jr. and Mary Katherine Diderrich McDaniel. She was baptized as an infant at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, later graduated from Columbia High School in 1966, and attended the University of Southern Mississippi.
On October 8, 1966, she married Jerrell McDaniel, and together they raised six children. A dedicated professional, Susie was a Real Estate Broker for over 40 years and was the owner of Susie McDaniel Real Estate in Columbia. She found great fulfillment in helping her clients with their real estate investments.
Susie's greatest love and joy were her children and grandchildren. She took immense pride in supporting them in all their activities and especially enjoyed attending their sporting events throughout the years. She was also a person that loved animals, especially her beloved pets that held a very special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. McDaniel, Jr and by the father of her children, Jerrell McDaniel. Susie is survived by one daughter, Suzanne McDaniel, Madison, MS ; five sons, Scotty (April) McDaniel, Oak Grove, MS, Mark McDaniel, Jered (Hope) McDaniel, John Dale McDaniel, and Lee "Scoot" McDaniel, all of Columbia, a sister, MaryJo McDaniel Blevins (Dr. Phillip) Naples, FL and a brother, Tommy McDaniel (Connie), Baton Rouge, LA She is also survived by six grandchildren; Catherine McDaniel, Mac McDaniel, Lauren McDaniel, Gracie Reagan (Jay), Eli McDaniel, and Zac Dalati; nephews; Mick McDaniel (Enjoli), Buck McDaniel, Michael Blevins, Steven Blevins (Ellen), Phillip Blevins, nieces; AliceAnn Sebring (Russell), Kathey Dixon (Drew), Elizabeth Crenshaw (Cole), Caroline Blevins and Leah Blevins, as well as several great nephews, great nieces and many wonderful friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2026 in the chapel at Hathorn Funeral home officiated by Father Tommy Conway. Visitation will precede the service from 12:00 noon until 1:45 pm. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be Mac McDaniel, Eli McDaniel, Zac Dalati (grandsons), Michael Blevins, Christopher Blevins and Ryan Breakfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Marion County Humane Society.
