Stanley Virgil Broom a mentor to hundreds and a friend to all, went to be with our lord and savior on May 31, 2020 at the age of 77. A graveside service will be held at Improve Baptist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 11:30 am. Bro. Darel Daniels will officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia.
Virgil was born on October 19, 1942 in Columbia, Ms. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Gloria Hutson Broom, his parents Theodore Broom and Ester Polk Broom.
He leaves behind his wife of eleven years Sandra Polk Womack Broom, daughter Dody Broom Sullivan (Don), Amanda Broom Rhodes (B.J.).
Grandchildren Josh Belt (Jennifer), Jake Belt (Ashley), McCall Stern (Hardy), Blake Ramage (Shanna) Baylee Rhodes, Brody Rhodes, and four great grandchildren.
He was an expert in the automotive repair business starting his craft by opening Broom Body Shop in 1967. Seeing the best in everyone, he mentored numerous young men helping them develop skills that would forever play a part in their life.
Many of the things Virgil enjoyed in life were riding motorcycles across the country, gardening around his house, sharing his passion for cars with his grandsons and having discussions about scripture with anyone who would listen.
He will be dearly missed by all.
