Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 09, 2024 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia for Sonya Christelle Bennett, 86, of Columbia, who passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024. Rev. Tommy Stogner will officiate the services.

Ms. Sonya lived a beautiful life of 86 years. She devoted her love and time to her family. Ms. Sonya was the biggest cheerleader for her Grandchildren supporting all different kinds of sports and activities. She was a very talented, singer, writer and poet who also enjoyed reading. Ms. Sonya dedicated 40 + years employed with Marion General Hospital. She was also a longtime member of North Columbia Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

She was preceded in death by her Father, Guy M.  Powell; Mother, Myrtis Crawley Height; one Son, Anthony "Tony" Bennett; Ex-Husband and Lifetime Friend, Alton Bennett.

She is survived by her Daughter, Pam Ball; one Sister, Sandra Alderman (Bart); one Grandchild, Kimberly Abercrombie (Wade); three Great Grandchildren, Landon McNabb, Tate Abercrombie, Matthew Abercrombie.

Pallbearers will be Landon McNabb, Wade Abercrombie, Matthew Abercrombie, Steve Crawley, Greg Weatherford, Huey Hitt. Honorary pallbearer will be Tate Abercrombie.
