Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Columbia for Reese Donald Shivers, 91, of Columbia, who passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Marion General Hospital. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia. Father Alwin will officiate the services. Chris Turnage will provide special music. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Hathorn Funeral Home and from 9:00 am until service time on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Columbia.

Mr. Reese was a man whose life was deeply rooted in service, faith, and the vibrant beauty of the earth. After dedicating twenty years to the military, he traded his uniform for the comfortable work clothes of a devoted gardener and outdoorsman. His true sanctuary was his yard, where he spent countless hours cultivating life, his hands stained with the rich soil he loved, a peaceful contrast to his years of duty. Above all, Reese's heart belonged to his family, finding his greatest joy in the laughter and boundless energy of his grandchildren. His life was a testament to his profound love for people and his unwavering faith in the Lord, which shone through in his kindness, his welcoming spirit, and the quiet contentment he found in every sunny day and every perfectly bloomed rose.

He was preceded in death by his Wife, Elizabeth Rita Maloney Shivers;  Father, William Reese Shivers;  Mother, Ava Estelle Beasley Shivers.

He is survived by his Son, Kenneth Shivers (Mary) of Humble, TX;  three Daughters, Deborah Merritt of Columbia, MS, Rowena Massingale of Columbia, MS and Donna Shivers of Columbia, MS; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Marc Wascomb, Tim Wascomb, Greg Wascomb,  Chester Hunt, Ryan Shivers, and Reese Shivers.
