Randy, born in Prentiss on January 6, 1960, passed away leaving a legacy of love, service, and unwavering loyalty. Best described as dependable, giving, and outgoing, Randy truly never met a stranger and will be most remembered as a friend to all. Family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them, especially the countless memories made with his beloved grandchildren. Together with Freda, he lived life to the fullest—whether they were traveling, cheering on the drivers at Talladega, or faithfully attending Southern Miss football games.

Randy was also deeply committed to his community and his faith. He took immense pride in serving others. He was a beloved friend and helper to many as a Marion County Supervisor and also the Superintendent of Public Works for the City of Columbia. Above all, he treasured his spiritual calling, serving faithfully as an ordained deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Columbia. His legacy of generosity and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Mack Dyess, Jr. and Marjorie Nell Allen; three Brothers, David Dyess, Mike Dyess, Greg Dyess; and one Sister, Karen Sylvest. He is survived by his Wife, Freda Ann Baker Dyess, of Columbia; one Daughter, Kelly Dyess Hurst (Zack), of Columbia; four Grandchildren, “Noodle” Hurst, of South Carolina, Ezra Hurst, of Columbia, Lucy Hurst, of Columbia, Jonas Hurst, of Columbia; and one Brother, Terry Dyess (Christy), of Columbia.

Mr. Dyess will be carried to his final resting place by those honored to serve as Pallbearers; Daniel Bernier, Bill Boutwell, Reuben McDowell, Kevin Myers, Jimmy Toland, and Jordan Whittington. Honorary Pallbearers will be Elwood DeAngelo, Billy Selmon, and Howard Thompson.
