Phyllis Marie
Price
May 30, 1929 – December 9, 2021
Phyllis Wallace Price was born on May 30, 1929 in Columbia. She died peacefully at home on December 9, 2021 in Minneapolis Minnesota. Those who knew Phyllis would attest to her determined and hard-working character, her fierce loyalty, and her honesty; one never had to guess what she was thinking. She loved travel, gardening, and was a collector of Thanksgiving Turkey Platters and Victorian Head Vases. Her impeccable ability to find them within minutes of entering an antique shop astonished everyone. Phyllis was an active member of First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the XYZ Club, Women's Circle and Dantin-Ford Sunday School Class. Of note, she was an active member of the First Baptist Church Ball Club where she loved playing dominoes and going on club trips. Phyllis was always one to bring humor to the hours on the trip bus. Following her relocation to Minneapolis, she loved "road trips" and there is not a region of Minnesota that she has not visited. She enjoyed international trips with her daughter Julia, but her favorite was her multiple trips to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and to the July 4th Parade on Madeline Island. Phyllis quickly adapted to life in Minneapolis and was loved by her neighborhood. Weather permitting she could be found on the screen porch chatting to everyone who came by. She gave southern language lessons on request.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Harvey Julious Price and her son, Michael Vance Price; her parents, Sardis Gomer and Ethel May (Nolen) Wallace and a brother, James Nolen Wallace.
She is survived by her daughters, Julia K Price, Minneapolis MN and Vickie M. Price, Columbia MS. She is survived by siblings, Shirley Grace, Elizabeth Taylor, Gomer Wallace Jr., Jane Wallace Barr and Wanda Holmes. Additional survivors include daughter-in-law, Judy Alexander Price, granddaughters Johna Necaise (Kyle), Amanda Barker; great-grandchildren, Emily and Logan Buchanan, Colton Broom and Levi Necaise as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
Honoring her wishes, Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Pine Grove United Pentecostal Church Cemetery in the Darbun community. Pastors Rob and Erin Grant will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the First United Methodist Church, Columbia or the First Baptist Church Ball Club.
Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of the arrangements. Family and friends may sign an online guestbook at www.hathornfuneralhome.com
