Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 19, 2021 at Good Hope Baptist Church in Columbia for Peggy Elizabeth Powell, 80, of Columbia, who passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 at her residence. Interment will be at Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Neal Breland and Bro. Roger Miller will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Hathorn Funeral Home and from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Monday, July 19, 2021 at Good Hope Baptist Church.

Born April 1, 1941 in Marion County to Vandus and Hiawatha Anderson, Peggy was a lifelong resident of Marion County. She retired after a long career with Columbia Training School. She was an active member of Good Hope Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Bobby Walker, Jimmie Powell; one brother, Porter Anderson; three grandsons, Steven Walker, Corey Walker, Dustin Bullock; and one great grandson, Steven Downing.

Those left to cherish her memory are a very special companion, Jerry Beach, of Columbia; two sons, Mike Walker and wife, Lisa, of Alabama, Kerry Walker and wife, Hope, of Columbia; daughter, Kathy Beard, of Columbia; six grandchildren, Christy Channell (Donnie), of Wesson, Shaunda Walker (Blake), of Columbia, Shane Furr (Rhonda), of Brookhaven, Heather Miller (Buddy), of Wesson, Hank Hilburn (Heather), of Byram, Bonnie Lightsey, of Columbia; six great grandchildren, Cami Beth Miller, Lexi Furr, Jayden Miller, Eli Downing, Cannon Miller, Gracie Hilburn; and many other family and friends, including her special little dog, Belle.

Pallbearers will be Adam Bass, Buddy Miller, David Williamson, Talmadge Sibley, Ricky Townsend, and William Anthony.
