Obituary

Pamela Sue Bowman "née Harlan", 81, of Columbia, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 8th, 2025.

Pam was born on March 2nd, 1944, in Grove City, Pennsylvania. Throughout her life she called many places home, including Pittsburgh, PA, Washington, DC, San Diego, CA, and ultimately Columbia, where she enjoyed her retirement. Her career path reflected her compassion and commitment to serving others, including providing transportation and care to special-needs children, working as a secretary for the Teamsters local in Pittsburgh, and her work as a nurse's aide. Pam was a lifelong lover of the arts, finding joy in singing in her church choir, dancing, and painting. She also loved traveling with her beloved husband, cherishing every moment they spent exploring the world together. Most importantly, there was no job or hobby that Pam cherished more than being a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Pam is survived by her loving and devoted husband, John Bowman; her three sons, Christopher (Amy) Black, Scott Black, and Scott (Stacey) Bowman; her two sisters, Kathy Kemerer and Billie Harlan; her six grandchildren, Benjamin, Amanda, Nicholas, Alex, Jared, and Emily (Brian); and her many nephews, nieces, and friends. Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Bryce Harlan, Sr. and Josephine May Heasly Harlan; and her brothers, Bryce Harlan, Jr. and Daniel Harlan.

The family offers special thanks to her outstanding caregivers from Forrest General Home Care and Hospice as well as all of the other special individuals who provided care to Pam. The entire family is incredibly grateful for your compassion and care.
