Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Bishop Ormand Hilton Austin, 87, of Columbia, who passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021. Interment will be at Calvary Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Mize. Rev. Oved Dunaway will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Hathorn Funeral Home.

Bishop Austin was born December 3, 1933 in Mize, Mississippi to John Grady Austin and Edna Josephine Martin Austin. He received a Doctorate of Divinity Degree from the World Wide Bible Institute of Hayti, Missouri in May of 1978. He was an ordained Bishop in the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee on April 1970. He pastored 31 years in 8 churches from May of 1968 to December of 1999. He delivered his first sermon on August 9, 1961.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, John Grady Austin & Edna Martin Austin Craft; seven Brothers, James W. Austin, John Davis Austin, Marshall Edward Austin, Charles Burton Austin, Clinton Paul Austin, John Grady Austin, Jr., Jack Wayne Austin; one Sister, Effie Jean Austin; and one Grandchild, Joshua David Austin.

He is survived by his Wife of 69 years, Edna Lucille Mahaffey Austin; two Sons, Hilton Edward Austin (Teresa), David Leo Austin (Cathy); one Daughter, Sherry Lynn McGinley (Craig); one Sister, Judy Ann Austin Fortenberry; 6 Grandchildren; and 20 Great Grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Cecil Pearson, Elvis Smith, Mark Broom, Chance Cater, Chase Cater, and Sam Todd. Honorary Pallbearers will be Oved Dunaway Sr., LaRue Merritt, and Hubert Watts.
