Obituary

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Good Hope Baptist Church in Columbia for Opha Louise “Tiny” Dyess, 88, of Columbia, who passed away on June 7, 2026, at her residence. Bro. Johnny Williams will officiate. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia.

Tiny was a true artist at heart, finding immense joy in the vibrant world of painting and drawing. Her creativity extended well beyond the canvas and into her flower beds, which she lovingly tended to, transforming her garden into a living masterpiece. When she wasn't creating art or nurturing her plants, Tiny could almost always be found lost in the pages of a good book as an avid reader. Her deep faith and love for going to church brought her great peace, but nothing meant more to her than the people she shared her life with, she loved her family fiercely, and they were truly her greatest joy.

The Dyess family will receive guests on Saturday Morning from 10:00 am up until the hour of service at 11:00 am at Good Hope Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Norman Jesse Dyess; Parents, Walter Shelby and Anna Mae Pittman; Son, Tracy Aland Dyess; Sisters, Carolyn Roberson, Sue McRea; Brothers, Shelby Pittman, Ben Pittman.

She was survived by her Sons, Tim Dyess (Rowena) of Columbia, Tony Dyess of Columbia; Daughter, Stacy Suzanne Dyess of Columbia; Grandchildren, Leslie May (Wade) of Madison, Natalie Lee (Kerry) of Foxworth, Lauren Dyess of Palestine, TX; Brian Dyess of New Orleans, LA, Great Grandchildren, Izzy May, Anne Hollis May, Nash Jensen Lee, Skylar Lee; Sister, Jan Mosley; Brother, Kenneth Pittman; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, and Friends.

Mrs. Opha will be carried to her final resting place by those honored to serve as Pallbearers; Ricky Stringer, Rusty Stringer, Russell Gillis, Todd Gillis, Kenneth Foster, David Williamson, Brian Dyess. Honorary Pallbearer will be Bruce Pittman.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Good Hope Baptist Church Building Fund @ 208 Good Hope Road, Columbia, MS 39429.
