Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Nickolas Shane Valdez, 19, of Gulfport, who passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Bro. Justin Carmon will officiate. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Hathorn Funeral Home.

Nickolas was a graduate of North Pike High School in May 2020. He was currently employed with McAbee Construction in Pascagoula for Mississippi Power. Nickolas was known as a loving, caring, and supportive person who put others before himself. He had an outgoing personality and carried himself with a positive outlook that was infectious for everyone.

Valdez was preceded in death by two Grandmothers, Taretha Pace, Phyliss Valdez; and two Grandfathers, Billy Wayne Pace; Conrad Valdez.

He is survived by his Father, Jeffrey Valdez, Sr. (Letha); his Mother, Monica King (Marvin); one Brother, Jeffrey Lee Valdez, Jr.; one Sister, Starr Nicole Valdez; two Step-brothers, Devin King, Justin King; two Step-sisters, Alicia Tyre, Samatha Breun; one Grandmother, Betty Valdez Moore; one Grandfather, Arthur "Buck" Holbert.
