Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Dexter Pentecostal Church in Dexter for Rev. Mikel Lamar Slocum, 62, of Foxworth, who passed away Friday, December 24, 2021 at his residence. Interment will be at Pierce Slocum Cemetery in Foxworth. Rev. Caroll Gatlin, Sis. Magan Kendrick, Rev. Dwight Pace, Rev. Jerry Terrell, and Rev. Austin Smith will officiate. Dakota & Brooke Graham and Bro. Terry Terrell will provide special music. Visitation will be held at 5:00 PM on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Dexter Pentecostal Church and will go until the service time on Monday, December 27, 2021.

Born on May 8, 1959, Mikel grew up in Marion County and surrendered to the Gospel Ministry at a young age. He was a student of the Word that knew the Bible with great understanding. He pastored churches in both Louisiana and Mississippi during his ministry. Mikel loved his family deeply and was known as their prayer warrior, lifting up his loved ones by name to his Heavenly Father daily. His love was also demonstrated in the great care he showed his grandparents in their latter years.

Mr. Slocum was preceded in death by his Wife, Connie Slocum; his Parents, Pierce & Grace Hudson Slocum; and one Brother, Thurman Slocum.

He is survived by one Brother, Lonnie Slocum (Connie), of Foxworth; five Sisters, Mary Ann Slocum, of Foxworth, Lavada Graham (Dolly), of Foxworth, Lynn Singley, of Foxworth, Wanda Pace, of Foxworth, Cindy Pace, of Columbia; and a very Special Friend (his turtle dove), Angela Harris, of Foxworth.

Pallbearers will be Chad Slocum, Phillip Slocum, Todd Graham, Scooter Singley, Jessie Graham, and Justin Pace. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Slocum, Latrell Slocum, Perry Graham, Tyler Graham, Joey Miller, Durante Pace, Duron Pace, Farrelyn Pace, T.J. Campbell, Jacob Waller, Steve Ralston, Larry Terrell, Landy Slocum, Chad Hilton, and Joseph Johnson.
