Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 03, 2023 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia, Mississippi, for Michael Burt Moore, 54, of Sumrall, who passed away Friday, April 28, 2023 . Rev. Sammy Williamson will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Hathorn Funeral Home.

Mr. Moore, a native of the Hattiesburg area, was a lifelong learner and lover of life. He battled courageously against Type 1 Diabetes his entire life. Despite this, he always enjoyed spending time with his family, playing with his dogs, and playing the guitar. He was an avid fisherman, hobbyist photographer, amateur astronomer and enjoyed woodworking projects. He earned two degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi in Math and Physics as well as a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University. He devoted 25 years of his life to the field of engineering, and earned his Professional Engineer's license. He will be remembered for his love of Blues music, culture, math, science, and his faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by one Brother, Harry "Bubba" Moore, Jr.

He is survived by his Parents, Harry B. Moore & Martha S. Moore; one Daughter, Ellen S. Moore (Chaz); one Son, Ethan M. Moore; two Sisters, Lisa S. Moore, Krista Lynne Moore (Laron).
