Services for Mary Erma Magee will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 1:00 pm with the service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Cemetery in Darbun.
Mrs. Magee, 93, met her precious Lord and Savior the afternoon of June 20, 2020 at the Aspen of Brookhaven. Her homecoming was celebrated with her husband of 55 years, W. Ray Magee, her parents, Archie & Lilly Fair Lindsey, her daughter, Loretta Gale Cooke, her four sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. Magee was born August 29, 1926 in Kelsey, Texas, the second of eight children. She moved to the State of Mississippi at the age of eight during the depression and never left the state. She and her husband lived for over 26 years in Olive Branch, and then retired and moved to Columbia to live near her two sisters, Verda Bracey and Neva Hembury. Mrs. Magee was a bank teller in her professional career but retired early to travel with her husband. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed outside activities, cooking, sewing, all sports, playing games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also an avid Mississippi State fan!
Mary Erma is survived by her son, Phillip R. Magee and Daughter-in-law, Dauphine, of Brookhaven; her sister, Kay Smith, of Tylertown; five grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the Aspen of Brookhaven for the excellent care provided, including Macy Givens, Jennifer Byther, Shirley Hall, Tyler Thames, Erica Spencer, and many others.
