Marilyn Ann Simmons, age 71, passed away August 8, 2020. She was born May 30, 1949, in Columbia. A graduate of William Carey College, she taught in Picayune for a number of years and then returned to her hometown to continue her teaching career. She was a member of Chapel of the Cross United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen Moody Simmons and Vondel Griffith Simmons McElroy; her brother, Glen Allen Simmons; and nephew, Glen Allen Simmons, Jr. Her survivors include her sister-in-law, Carolyn Simmons Lee and her niece, Karen Simmons Vines (Alan).

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 10:00 am at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia. Dr. David Young will officiate the service.
