Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Hathorn Funeral Home for Marie Walters Blackwell, 82, of Foxworth, who passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023. Interment will be at the Old Morman Cemetery in Darbun. Bishop. Ochenrider will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Hathorn Funeral Home.
Mrs. Marie was born on June 26, 1941, in Laurel, Mississippi, to Clebourn Walters and Vena Walters. She served and worked for Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene, Oregon for over 20 years. Mrs. Marie was a great self-taught, known for her chicken and dumplings, famous fried chicken, steak and gravy and biscuits. She always provided a kind word and concern about people around her. Marie enjoyed word books and puzzles, always looking for the last piece she was sitting on. She loved her soap operas, WrestleMania and Bob Parker of Price is Right! Marie Blackwell is preceded by her husband William Douglas Blackwell. She was a devoted and caring wife to William for over 56 years. Later they received their Patriarchal Blessing in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on August 2014. She was a compassionate daughter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She lived a life dedicated to serving Jesus Christ, caring for the church, and supporting hope for their mission.
She is preceded by her husband, William Douglas; Father, Clebourn Walters; Mother, Vena Walters.
She is survived by her three Children, Deborah Stewart (Wilbert), Linda Evans (Michael), William Dennis Blackwell; four Siblings Mildred Kuesel, Laverne Atwood, Clabourn Walters, Doris Taylor; six Grandchildren, Carina Davis (Jason), Cameron Evans, Joshua Reeves (Jennifer), Kalen Maahs (Meliha), Carissa Fox (Lukas), and Dustin Blackwell (Kimi); seven great-grandchildren, Christian Evans (Jasmina), Cailey Evans, Avery Fox, Cainen Evans, Lee Blackwell, Abigail Fox, and Zarek Maahs.
Pallbearers will be William "Dennis" Blackwell, Wilbert Stewart, Michael Evans, Cameron Evans, Joshua Reeves and Rusty Fox.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Marie Blackwell to Bishop Tyler Kneisly, 97 Mesa Walker Bridge Rd., Tylertown, MS 39667.
