Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Sandy Hook Baptist Church in Sandy Hook for Malcolm Edward "Eddie" Forbes, 61, of Sandy Hook who passed away Monday, July 26, 2021 at Merit Health Wesley. Bro. Michael Nippers and Bro. Ricky Daugherty will officiate. Interment will be at Sandy Hook Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Sandy Hook Baptist Church.
Eddie was raised in Sandy Hook, MS and attended West Marion School where he played basketball and football. He went on to play football for Pearl River Community College and Southeastern Louisiana University where he received his associates for Industrial Technology at PRCC and a bachelor degree at Southeastern Louisiana University for the same major. He also received a proficiency of land, oil and mineral management at the University of Texas at Tyler. Eddie started his career with the New Orleans Furniture Company working as a safety coordinator and later as a salesman. After leaving New Orleans Furniture he moved home to help with the family cattle farm. Eddie later decided to start a dairy farm. Forbes Dairy Farm has been in operation for over 30 years and has received multiple awards over the years for milk quality and production. He was a board member for SUDIA (Southeast United Dairy Industry Association) and Farm Bureau for many years. Eddie took pride in being a husband, father and family man and will be missed by many.
Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Fredrick E. Forbes Jr.; and mother, Elizabeth Ann Berry Forbes. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Shannon Forbes of Sandy Hook, MS, daughters, Sarah Lessard (Shae) of Livingston, LA, Hannah Forbes of Sandy Hook; son, Austin Forbes of Sandy Hook; grandson, Sebastian Lessard of Livingston, LA; brother, Ricky Forbes (Kalinda) of Pascagoula, MS; sister, Tina Martin (Mike) of Sandy Hook, MS; mother-in-law, Marie Meinke Hover of Slidell, LA; Brother-in-law Bernard Meinke Jr. of Pearl River, LA; his close friend, Darrell Chancellor (Annette) of Collins, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Pallbearers will be: Bill Barber, David Martin, Brian Stringer, Glen Spell, Blake McDaniel, Keith Kennedy, Greg Lowery, and Derek Whitehead.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Darrell Chancellor and Thomas Forbes.
