Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Improve Baptist Church in Columbia for Major Howell Patterson, 83 of Columbia, who passed away Monday, March 23, 2026. Interment will be at Improve Baptist Church Cemetery in Columbia. Rev. Darel Daniels will officiate the services.

The Patterson family will receive guests on Monday morning from 9:00 am up until the hour of service at 12:00 pm at Improve Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his Parents; Shepherd Thomas Patterson & Bertha Mae Broom Patterson; and his two Brothers, Wenzell Patterson, Tommy Patterson.

He is survived by his Wife, Barbara Lasater Patterson, of Covington, Louisiana; his two Sons, John Patterson (Nicole), of Sumrall; Justin Patterson (Tara), of Columbia; his Daughter, Jolie Patterson, of Ocean Springs; nine Grandchildren, John Austin Patterson, Jr., Reagan Brooke Patterson, Seth Thomas Patterson, Bryce Logan Patterson, Kaleigh Grace Patterson, Nicholace Howell Patterson, Havanna Andrea Gallego, Lina Gallego, Vivianna Gallego; and five Great Grandchildren, Korbin James Eddy, Konner Paul Eddy, Ivan Atlas Patterson, Viktor Virgil Patterson, Nova Corcoran.

Mr. Patterson will be carried to his final resting place by those honored to serve as Pallbearers; John Austin Patterson, Jr., Seth Thomas Patterson, Nicholace Howell Patterson, Clay Broom, Sam Broom, and Clint McMurry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Will Byrd, Leo Jackson, Hershel Anderson, and Rev. Valton Douglas.
