Louise O'Neal Whitehead

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Louise O Whitehead, 84, of Foxworth, who passed away Thursday, September 24, 2026. Interment will follow at Kokomo Community Cemetery in Kokomo. Len McRaney will officiate the services.

The Whitehead family will receive guests on Sunday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia.

Louise “Pot” Whitehead was known affectionately as “Pot” to most who knew her, she was a devoted homemaker whose life centered around her family, her faith, and her church.

Pot loved cooking for her family and church family, and her greens were a favorite that everyone always asked her to make. She never needed a recipe and rarely measured a thing. Whenever someone asked how she made her greens, or any of the other dishes they loved, Pot would just laugh and say she didn’t know. She simply cooked from the heart, and some of her family’s fondest memories were made around the meals she prepared.

Family and faith were at the heart of Pot’s life. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she loved going to church and spending time with her church family. The people she loved, both at home and at church, were an important part of her life.

Pot will be remembered for her strong faith, her love for her family, and the care she so freely gave to others. The traditions she created, the meals she shared, and the love she poured into her family will continue to live on through those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ouida Conerly; her husband, ML "Buck" Whitehead; one child, Mikel Whitehead; one grandchild, Abby Whitehead; one daughter in law, Lucy Whitehead.

She is survived by three sons, John Whitehead, of Texas, Charles Whitehead, of Foxworth, Larry Whitehead, of Foxworth; five grandchildren, Misty Buckley (Polan), of Sumrall, Crystal Upton, of Columbia, Eric Whitehead (Tammy), of Foxworth, Diana Whitehead, of Texas, Christina Whitehead, of Hattiesburg; a host of great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Whitehead will be carried to her final resting place by those honored to serve as Pallbearers: Eli Woodward, Eric Whitehead, Andrew Whitehead, Blaton Norris, Matthew Bilbo, and Levi Upton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations made to Kokomo Chapel.
