Louie was a man of energy and remarkable versatility, a true Marion County native who refused to simply settle for one path in life. Born during the Great Depression, he grew up on a cotton farm where he forged a legendary work ethic that defined his every endeavor. Driven by a lifelong desire to learn, he pursued his education at Pearl River Community College and the University of Southern Mississippi. His faith was his foundation; he was baptized at First Baptist Church in Columbia and remained a devoted, longtime member of Enon Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Louie also honorably served his country in the United States Army National Guard during the Vietnam War, bringing a quiet strength and discipline to everything he touched.

A master builder by trade, Louie’s impact on the local landscape is visible in the more than 800 structures—mostly homes—that he constructed across the area. Even after retiring from the construction industry, his restless spirit led him to a third career in tree farming, where he spent his later years raising pine trees on the land he loved. In the classroom, he shared his knowledge as a Social Studies and Driver’s Education teacher, while on the court, his passion for basketball shone through. From his days playing for Columbia High School to coaching at Hub and East Marion, he lived for the game. He cherished reliving those historic matchups with his brother and fellow coach, Austin, finding joy in the strategy and stories of the sport. Whether he was walking his property or tending to his trees, Louie remained a man of his word and a pillar of the community, forever proud of the county he called home.

He was preceded in death by his Wife, Patricia Ann Anderson; and his Parents; Vestus Dale & Mildred Vallie Tagert Anderson.

He is survived by his two biological twin Daughters, Gay Levern Anderson McKenzie & Elizabeth Ann Anderson McKenzie, both of Columbia; one Step-daughter, Michelle Williams, of Madison; one Sister, Lorice Broome, of Columbia; one Brother, Austin Anderson (Tommie Sue), of Franklin, Tennessee; three Nieces, Peanie Breakfield (Keith), of Columbia, Melinda Prats (Donald), of North Dakota, Renee Robinson (Gerald), of Texas; one Nephew, Sustin Anderson; and numerous Great & Great Great Nieces & Nephews.

Mr. Anderson will be carried to his final resting place by those honored to serve as Pallbearers; they include, Sustin Anderson, Doug McElroy, Ran Hollis, Jr., Rusty O’Quin, Blake Simmons, and Mark Stokes.
