Larry Mikell Williamson was a man defined by the strength of his hands, the warmth of his heart, and the unwavering steady presence he offered to everyone he knew. As the dedicated Guardian over Society Hill Cemetery, Larry looked after the hallowed grounds with the same care and meticulous attention he gave to every aspect of his life.

Larry didn’t just "do" a job; he lived to work. Whether he was tending to the cemetery or helping a neighbor, he moved through life with a servant’s heart. He was the rare kind of soul who was truly there for anyone, at any hour, the moment they called. His generosity knew no bounds, and he frequently gave of his time and resources without ever expecting a thank you in return.

If you spent time with Larry, you likely had a cup of coffee in your hand or a plate of food in front of you. He was a master of the grill and the smoker, finding his greatest joy in cooking for family and friends.

Larry was also a man who never met a stranger. He had a signature way of breaking the ice; every waitress who served him was greeted with his favorite conversation starter: "Where are you from?" It wasn’t just small talk—Larry genuinely wanted to know people’s stories, and with his incredible memory, he likely remembered the answer years later.

When he wasn't working or cooking, Larry embraced the spirit of the open road and the thrill of the race. His favorites included:

  • Harley-Davidson: He loved the freedom and the iconic roar of a Hog.
  • NASCAR: He was a dedicated fan who followed the sport with passion.
  • Storytelling: Blessed with a sharp mind and a great sense of humor, Larry was a natural joker who could command a room with a well-told story or a perfectly timed prank.

While he was many things to many people, a guardian, a cook, and a loyal friend, his most cherished title was one given to him by the youngest generation. To Aiden and Weston, he was simply "P-pop." They loved him dearly, and he reciprocated that love with the kind of devotion only a grandfather can provide.

Larry Mikell Williamson leaves behind a legacy of hard work, smoky barbecue, and a reminder that the best way to live is with an open heart and an open door. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of hearing his stories or calling him a friend.

He was preceded in death by his Parents; Emmit Yancey Williamson & Willie Fay Bourn Thomas; Stepfather, Joe Thomas; one Brother, Timmy Williamson; one Sister-in-Law, Miriam Williamson.

He is survived by His Wife of 40 years, Pam Williamson, of Carson, MS; one Son, Adam Williamosn, of Bay Saint Louis, MS; two Daughter, Lori Bush (Chris) of Ellisville, MS, Brandi Grayson, of Petal, MS; one Brother, Emmitt Ray Williamson, of Oakvale, MS; one Sister, Jean Turnage (Pat), of Oakvale, MS; seven Grandchildren; five Great Grandchildren.
