Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Kim Chun Hughes, 82, of Columbia, who passed away Monday, February 17, 2025, at The Grove. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia. Bro. Chris Turnage will officiate the services.

The Hughes family will receive friends on Thursday morning, February 20, 2025, beginning at 9:00 am until the hour of service at 11:00 am at Hathorn Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hughes will be carried to her final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers; they include Dylan Hughes, Michael Hughes, Nathan Smith, and Shan Smith, Cole Ellingburg.

Mrs. Kim Hughes, a woman of quiet strength, possessed a green thumb and a generous heart. She found immense joy in tending to her garden, cultivating vibrant flowers and maintaining a beautifully landscaped yard. Known for her selfless nature, she was a devoted caregiver, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. A talented cook, she delighted in sharing her culinary skills, especially her beloved Korean dishes. Though small in stature, Mrs. Hughes was a mighty lady, possessing an unwavering spirit and a deep love for her family.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Maurice Hughes, Sr.; Son, Maurice Hughes, Jr.

Her memory will forever be cherished  by her Son, Michael  Hughes (Stephanie) of Mendenhall, MS;  Daughter, Mary  Smith (Shan) of Tylertown, MS;  eight Grandchildren, Dylan Hughes (Caitlin) of Columbia, MS, Brandon Hughes (Nichole) of Coldwater, MS, Nathan  Smith of Tylertown, MS, Kent Hughes of Mendenhall, MS, Neely Smith of Tylertown, MS, Hadley Hughes of Mendenhall, MS, Holly Hughes and Cali Smith;  three Great Grandchildren, Dallas Hughes, Bentley Hughes and Emerie Kate Hughes.
