A Graveside will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 17, 2020 at Society Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Oak Vale, Mississippi for Katie Merle Fortenberry, 91, of Columbia, who passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at The Myrtles Nursing Home. Interment will be at Society Hill Cemetery. Bro. Mark McArthur will officiate

A long-time resident of the Hathorn Community. Mrs. Fortenberry loved working on her yard, mowing, tending to flower beds, and enjoyed cooking for the family. She was a part of a quilting group at Goss Baptist Church called "Stitches of Love". She was always giving her great-grandkids, all kinds of snacks, goodies and money. She absolutely adored her son Steve; he was the apple of her eye. She will be missed very much.

Mrs. Fortenberry was preceded in death by her Husband, Walter Fortenberry, Father, Steven Stamps; Mother, May Stamps and her Daughter, Marion Bourn.
She is survived by her Son, Steve Fortenberry (Tabatha), her Grandchildren, Kimberly Griffin, (Jesse), Karen Smith, Sheri Whitehead, Charlie Whitehead and Dana Loftin (Chris). Her Great-grandchildren, Ethyn Fortenberry, Kambreigh Fortenberry, Abby Loftin and Ashley Loftin, Colt Griffin and the future Cindy Rylynn Griffin.

Pallbearers will be Ethyn Fortenberry, Triston Stewart, Mathew Stewart, Mark Stewart and Michael Stewart.
