A Graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 10:30 am in Columbia for Kathryn Smith Carson, 92, of Columbia, who passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023 at her residence. Bro. Paul Young will officiate the services.

Kathryn was a longtime resident of Columbia. She had a long career as an LPN, where she worked at Marion General Hospital, Floadrian Nursing Home, as well as private duty in her later years. She loved traveling and visited almost every state in the country.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Claude Odean Carson; her Parents, Clarence & Lizzie Dyess Smith; and two Brothers, Ray Carroll Smith, Donnie Hugh Smith.

She is survived by her Son, Dr. Wallace Carson (Carol), of Columbia; her Daughter, Janice Wilks (Tony), of Columbia; one Sister, Joyce Weber, of New Orleans, Louisiana; three Grandchildren, Don King, of Hattiesburg, Leigh Ham (Jake), of Columbia, Ashley Carson, of Columbia; and five Great Grandchildren, Makena King, of Hattiesburg, Helena King, of Hattiesburg, Riley Ham, of Columbia, Samuel Ham, of Columbia, Dillon Carson, of Columbia.

Pallbearers will be Don King, Jake Ham, Terry Weber, Austin Smith, David Smith, and Dr. Pat Sanford. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Carson and Tony Wilks.
