Joyce Broom Prine, born December 18, 1937, passed peacefully at her home in Columbia Mississippi on March 20, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born one of 10 siblings in Bassfield, MS. Joyce was the daughter of the late Ottis and Edna Broom.

Joyce's life was a testament to the love and care she devoted to her family for many years when able. Joyce was the beloved wife of 53 memory filled years to the late Lewis O'Neal Prine. She was a mother to two sons, Gary and Greg Prine.

Joyce was also preceded in death by several of her siblings; her brother Darrell Broome, Reese Broom, Davy Broom, sisters; Nita Broome Sims, Delois (Lois) Broome Haddox, a sister-in-law, Duthel Broome, a brother-in-law, Johnnie Peltier, and her beloved grandson, Christopher Prine.

Joyce enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors, often spending hours in her flower beds or mowing grass. She enjoyed sewing. She had dedicated work ethics throughout her life's journey - a very hard worker in all things! Her role as a homemaker was one she embraced with passion. Joyce poured her heart into every meal she lovingly prepared and was always searching out new recipes to try. Cooking was one of her great pleasures, and she was good at it! BUT what brought her the greatest Joy was talking about her Lord and Savior Jesus. She was a dedicated member of Faithway Missionary Baptist Church, where she accepted Jesus in her heart and was born again. Joyce was a charter member of Victory Tabernacle Baptist Church for many years and a faithful member of West Black Creek Baptist Church in her latter years.

Joyce was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the colon in 2022. That combined with many other illnesses complicated her health. She made the decision to be taken care of at her home. Her health continued to decline rapidly throughout 2025. The family focused on keeping her comfortable in a familiar environment, surrounded by loved ones and friends. Joyce spent her final hours expressing her sincere love and wishes to each person she requested visitation with and assured them that she would see them again!

She is grieved by her two sons Gary (Sharon) Prine, Greg (Kim) Prine, and Darlous Dement. She is also mourned by her grandchildren; Joshua Prine, Shawn Herrington, Amanda Prine Skidmore (Alex), Brandon Prine, as well as her great-grandchildren: Emily, Maegan, Layla, Jaylynn, Marley, Micah, Hunter and Kayleigh. Joyce is also survived and grieved by her siblings; Kenneth (Debbie) Broome, Kermit Broome, Brenda Broome (Don) Gipson, Dorothy (Dot) Broom Peltier, and sisters-in-law, Jimmie Sue Broom, Linda Broom, and Melanie Broome, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members, and friends… all of whom she loved dearly.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend her visitation on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 5 pm - until at West Black Creek Baptist Church located at 149 West Black Creek Road Sumrall MS. Family will gather privately at 4:30.

Ms. Prines' funeral service will begin in the Sanctuary of West Black Creek Baptist Church on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Rev. Everette Broome and Rev. Joe Lott will officiate.

Her graveside burial service will follow immediately at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alex Skidmore, Brandon Prine, Don Gibson, Edwin Haddox, DeWayne Ervin and Michael Broome.

The Prine family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to all of her caregivers; Mrs. Mavis McGill, Angela Jones, Essie Slocum, Terry Powell, Marcie Ham, and Caylin Spears.

May her testimony touch the lives of all she encountered as she strived to spread His Truth "message and gospel".
