Jonah lived life at full speed, embracing every moment with a passion but only doing them halfway except for sneaking sweets (from everyone). He held deep affection for his family, especially his Uncle Latrell Slocum, whom he playfully nicknamed his "Amish daddy," and was utterly obsessed with his Papa David Moon. Possessing a huge heart, he was remarkably inclusive and drawn to those less healthy than himself, always ensuring he performed an act of kindness for everyone, young or elderly. Jonah loved his involvement in church and youth group, always asking questions to learn more and grow his faith. While he loved the hands-on precision of taking things apart, his enjoyment of hunting, fishing, golf, competitive archery, and riding horses stood in contrast to his dislike for manual labor—he loved the bounty of his gardening, but never the weeding. Jonah's bond with his brothers, was like no other, for example "snitches get stitches" thick as thieves. Traveling to North Carolina to visit family for a family trip and to prank his grandmother. For all his intense activity, resting was his favorite pastime, yet his defining quality remained his velocity: he was incredibly fast and would slow down for nothing.
"Dear Daddy,
Thank you for keeping me safe, and to me you hung the moon and stars.
Love you,
Big Joe
