Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 17, 2020 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Johnnie Mae Rowell, 93, of Foxworth, who passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at her residence. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Dr. Hiram Campbell & Bro. Zach Smith and will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Monday, August 17, 2020 at Hathorn Funeral Home.
Johnnie was born in Oxford and moved to Columbia when she was in the eighth grade. Her father was the dairy farmer for the Columbia Training School. She spoke fondly about her time growing up in Columbia. She was a long-time member of New Hope Baptist Church. She carried a deep love for her Lord and all of her family and was always willing to open her home and table to many throughout Marion County.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Paul B. Rowell; and her Parents, William & Iva Tubbs White.
She is survived by two Sons, Paul B. Rowell, Jr. (Dawn), of Kokomo, Steve B. Rowell (Kathy), of Foxworth; three Grandchildren, Elijah Daniel Rowell (Brooke), of Foxworth, Brandon Paul Rowell, of Kokomo, Shelbey Rowell Barrett (Taylor), of Foxworth; five Great-Grandchildren, Cole Magee Rowell, of Foxworth, Carter Elijah Rowell, of Foxworth, Carlee Elizabeth Rowell, of Foxworth, Isabella Marie Rowell, of Kokomo, Riley Banks Barrett, of Foxworth; and a number of Nieces and Nephews.
Pallbearers will be Eli Rowell, Cole Rowell, Taylor Barrett, Brandon Paul Rowell, Carter Rowell, and Avery Fortenberry. Honorary pallbearers will be James R. Thomas, Grant Grisham, Berkley Hall, Raymond "Tate" Rowell.
