Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for John Lewis Davis, 89, of Columbia, who passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Interment will be at Society Hill Cemetery in Oakvale. Rev. Mark MacArthur and Dr. Brian Malone will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Hathorn Funeral Home.
John Lewis was a lifelong resident of Marion County. He served his nation faithfully as a member of the United States Air Force in the Korean War. He worked in several different fields but many remember him serving as operator of the Goss Community Water Association up until his late seventies. John Lewis was a quiet, simple man that loved his God, his family, and his church, and he served them all faithfully.
He was preceded in death by his Wife, Warrene Williams Davis; his Parents, John Watts & Alice Sanders Davis; one Brother, La Rue Davis; and two Sisters, Hattie Mae Summers, Alice Ann Ennis.
He is survived by his three Sons, William Keith Stuckey (Jackie), of Columbia, John Warren Davis (Belinda), of Columbia, Kevin Matthew Davis (Cynthia), of Columbia; one Daughter, Debra Eileen Davis, of Columbia; one Brother, Harold Ray Davis, of Tylertown; two Sisters, Virginia Nan Hathorn (David), of Columbia, Clara Jane Speights, of Columbia; nine Grandchildren, Jody Stuckey, Todd Stuckey (Tabitha), Ashley Clark, Anna Brumfield (Michael), Arynn Stuckey, Mandi Chance (Charlie), Lindsay Grant (Jeremy), Nicole Greer (Deryk), Taylor Merritt (David); 21 Great Grandchildren; and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Daulton Turnage, Elijah Nibert, Riley Turnage, Myles Clark, Cameron Clark, and Benjamin Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Keagan Martin, Chandler Beard, Cade Stuckey, and Alec Fortenberry.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Goss Baptist Church.
