Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for John Edward Darington, 91, of Kokomo, who passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Forrest General Hospital. Interment will be at Darbun Community Cemetery in Kokomo. Rev. Buddy Day will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Hathorn Funeral Home.

John Darington, a man of faith and family, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025. Born and raised in Palestine, Texas, he attended Stephen F. Austin University on a golf scholarship. After serving his country in the Army, he embarked on a 42-year career as a conductor with Union Pacific Railways. Food was his passion, and he enjoyed sharing his culinary creations with loved ones. A devout Christian, John loved reading the Bible and sharing his faith with others. An avid sports fan, he cheered for the Texas Longhorns with unwavering enthusiasm. Above all, he was a devoted family man, cherishing his loved ones, especially his son Richard. His unwavering desire was to ensure that all his family knew the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his Wife, Myra Virginia Bracey Darington; Son, Richard Darington; Father, Roy Darington; Mother, Iona Shaver Darington; five Brothers, Roy Darington, Lawrence Darington, Jack Darington, Joe Darington and Douglas Darington; Sister, Dorothy Darington.

He is survived by his Son, Randy Darington of Webster, TX; A host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
