A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Society Hill Cemetery in Oakvale for Joe Dunn Fitzhugh, 77, of Columbia, who passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Forrest General Hospital. Interment will be at Society Hill Cemetery in Oakvale. Rev. Mark McArthur and Rev. Brian Malone will officiate the services.

Joe loved being outdoors.  He liked bushhogging, mowing yards, gardening and watching good old western movies. Joe worked in the oilfield for many years but after injury came home and started driving log trucks. He was an active member of Goss Baptist Church and loved to watch sermons on television when he couldn't attend services.

He was preceded in death by his Wife, Sydelle Butler Fitzhugh; Father, Sidney Fitzhugh; Mother, Gladys Prine Fitzhugh; Sister, Diane Williamson; Step-daughter, Cynthia.

He is survived by his three Step-Sons, David Conerly, Dempsey Conerly and Dale Conerly; three Step-Daughters, Sara Housley, Barbara Robertson, Joyce King; three Brothers, Gary Fitzhugh, Gerald Fitzhugh (Judy) and Allen Ray Fitzhugh; three Sisters, Edith Turnage, Frances Wroten, Elaine Morgan; and a  host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Sid Fitzhugh, Blayke Turnage, Trystan Turnage, Chase Slocum, Carson Daniels and Colby Daniels. Honorary pallbearer will be Brady Turnage.
