Joan Harry, a distinguished and beloved member of the Columbia community, passed away peacefully. Growing up in Louisville, Mississippi, she was a proud alumna of Louisville High School, Mississippi State College for Women, and the University of Mississippi, where she was a cherished member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Her deep faith was evident in her dedicated service at the First United Methodist Church of Columbia, where she taught Sunday school for many years and held various officer positions. Joan was also an active and influential member of several local organizations, including the A's You Like It Club, the Town Club, and was a life member of the Junior Auxiliary, consistently serving as an officer. Professionally, her career was as varied as it was impactful: she worked for the GM & O Railroads on the passenger train "The Little Rebel," served as secretary to the principal at Columbia High School from 1966-1970, and concluded her career as the office manager for the MS Department of Health in Columbia for 15 years.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, William Lampton Harry; Daughter, Eleanor Victoria Wooten; Father, Roy Perry Beacham; Mother, Lida Graham Bennett Beacham; Sister, Eleanor Oakley Ellis.
