Jerry Rudolph Ramshur

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for Jerry R. Ramshur, 86, of Columbia, who passed away Friday, September 11, 2026. Interment will follow at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Columbia, MS. Dr. Rick Clark and Bro. Dewitt Bain will officiate the services.

The Ramshur family will receive guests on Saturday, September 12, 2026 evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia.

Jerry was the youngest of five siblings. He was a hardworking, family-oriented man who enjoyed life. He and his wife, Maydres, first met at their pastor’s home on a New Year’s Eve and recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. He worked for 30 years at Pioneer Aerospace in Columbia. A longtime member of Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, Jerry accepted Christ and was baptized there. He was easygoing and fun-loving, never met a stranger, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing his grass, and working in his garden. He was always happy to share the vegetables he grew with others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierce Edmon Ramshur and Minnie Lee Smith Ramshur; three brothers, Dean Ramshur, Edmon Ramshur, and L.T. Ramshur; one sister, Elloweese Crawley Weatherford.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Maydres J. Miller Ramshur, of Columbia; one son, John Kevin Ramshur (Kathy), of Columbia; one daughter, Lisa Polk (Andy), of Madison; four grandchildren, Karen Pittman (Dusty), of Columbia, Lisa Miller (Peyton), of Arkansas, Dwayne Sistrunk (Kelley), of Laurel, and Corbin Spencer, of Madison; and five Great Grandchildren.

Mr. Ramshur will be carried to his final resting place by those honored to serve as Pallbearers; they include: Keith Ramshur, Jason Cook, Kendall Culpepper, Eric Ramshur, Kennie Ward, Jr., and Josh Broome.
