A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Improve Baptist Church Cemetery in Columbia for Jerry Howard Burt, 85, of Columbia, who passed away Monday, June 23, 2025, at Merit Health Wesley. Interment will be at Improve Baptist Church Cemetery in Columbia. Rev. Darel Daniels and Bro. Jonathan McLemore will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Hathorn Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Howard  Burt;  Mother, Roberta Sumrall Burt;  Brother, Gene Burt;  Sister, Linda  Watts.

He is survived by his Wife, Carolyn  Morris  Burt of Columbia, MS;  Son, Joey  Burt  (Julie ) of Waveland, MS;  Daughter, Jani Purvis of Hazelhurst , MS;  four Grandchildren, Megan  Fasick (David), Jeremy  Burt, Jessica  Purvis and Jenna  Purvis;  two Great Grandchildren, Savannah Fasick and Grayson  Fasick.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Burt, David Fasick, Chris Watts, Damon Watts, Sam Valdez, and Kenny Price. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles H. Griner and Gary Morris.
