Obituary

Janice Robertson, age 77, passed away December 18, 2024.  Services will be at 12 noon Monday, December 23, 2024, at Bunker Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Roberson officiating.  Burial will follow in Bunker Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. prior to services at the church.  Janice was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nona Jones; granddaughter Sydney Reese Kimbrell; brother-in-law Kenneth Apperson.  She is survived by her husband, Julian Robertson; sons Brian Shows (Cherie), Kevin Shows (Candice), Jamie Robertson (Courtney); daughter Amy Kimbrell (Brian); sisters Dorothy Yates (Garry) and Sharon Wilson (Steve); brother Roddy Jones (Angi); special friend Janet Rogers.  She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Zachary Shows, Abigail Shows, Bella Shows, Jase Shows, Courtney Powell (Josh), Cassidy Robertson, Reed Robertson, Caroline Robertson, Wilson Kimbrell, Hallie Kimbrell, Jaycie Kimbrell, Blakely Kimbrell; and great-grandchildren Vienna Shows, Brynlee Powell, and Blakely Powell.

Janice graduated from Holt High School, Tuscaloosa, AL in 1966.  She furthered her studies at Shelton State Technical School where she received a certification in business administration.  Janice spent most of her working life in various administrative roles from the VA hospital in Tuscaloosa, AL to church secretary at Bunker Hill Baptist Church, and Rural Development with USDA.   In her retirement, Janice enjoyed reading, sewing, shopping, playing cards weekly with her friends and spending time with her dog Mia. She also enjoyed traveling, one of her more memorable trips was to the Amish country in Pennsylvania.

Janice loved children and that was evident by the way she cared for her family and grandchildren.  She was often referred to as Mama Jan, Aunt Jan, Grandma or MawMaw by others not even in her immediate family.  Janice volunteered with the children's ministry at her church and loved hosting her grandchildren for special one on one weeks in the summer.  Although her health had caused some limitations for her in recent years, she never missed a game or performance for one of her grandchildren.  If you visited her in her home, she was certainly going to show you her "Grand Wall", which holds pictures of all her precious grandchildren.

Although Janice will be deeply missed by all who love her, we can take comfort in the knowledge that she knew and loved the Lord.  We grieve with hope that we will be reunited with her again one day.  "And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope." 1 Thessalonians 4:13

Pallbearers will be Adam Bass, Jameson Robbins, Stacy Buckley, Cody Magee, David Brown, and James Fagan.
