A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Spring Cottage Cemetery in Columbia for James Edward Williams, Sr., 84, of Columbia, who passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025 at his residence. Rev. Stephen Binion will officiate the service.

James was born in Pearl River, Louisiana, on March 12, 1941. He was a true jack of all trades, whose talents knew no bounds. An accomplished carpenter, he possessed the remarkable ability to build and fix anything he set his mind to. Beyond his impressive practical skills, James found joy in the simple pleasures of life, meticulously canning vegetables and fruits, crafting delicious jellies. He also enjoyed raising chickens. He was an avid deer hunter, cherishing his time in nature. James's greatest love, however, was for his beloved wife, Michele "Mickey." Their enduring romance began in their youth, leading to their marriage in Pearl River when Michele "Mickey" was just eighteen. James was a member of Spring Cottage Baptist Church in Columbia, and he especially loved his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. James will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Louis Williams; his Mother, Annie Kellar Williams; three Brothers, Luther Williams, Joe Williams, Eugene Williams; and five Sisters, Irma Williams, Paulene Garrett, Thelma Tate, JoAnn Henley, Louise Barnaba.

He is survived by his Wife of almost fifty-nine years, Michele Phyllis Johnson Williams, of Columbia; his Son, James "Jamie" Edward Williams, Jr., of Athens, Georgia; his Daughter, Courtney Anne Mitchell, of Columbia, MS; five Grandchildren, Torrie Mitchell, of Lena, Cristie Fitzpatrick, of Georgia, Tara Barber, of Columbia, Jamie Lei Williams, of Georgia, Courtney Marie McCall (Robert), of Georgia.
