Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for James E. Ramshur, 77, of Columbia, who passed away Monday, December 23, 2024 at his residence. Interment will be at Good Hope Cemetery in Columbia. Johnny Williams will officiate the service. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Hathorn Funeral Home.
Mr. James Earl Ramshur, a lifelong resident of Columbia, was born and raised in this community. He dedicated his life to serving others. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Ramshur later embarked on a fulfilling career as an educator, retiring from the Marion County Carl Loftin Career and Technology Center. A loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he cherished his family deeply, along with his beloved wife and his dog "Rascal". Mr. Ramshur will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Thomas Ramshur; Mother, Erma Fitzhugh Ramshur; two Brothers, Ras Ramshur and Tommy Ramshur; five Sisters, Tommie Wise, Wydell Lankford, Edna Earl Collins, Juanita Duliba and Christell Ramshur; two Brother-In-Laws, Peter Mavrikis, Bennie Stringer.
He is survived by his Wife, Linda Thrash Ramshur; Son, Jason Ramshur; Daughter, Katherine Gayle Parker (Michael); two Grandchildren, James Parker (Marissa) and Thomas Parker; Brother, Paul Louis Ramshur; two Sisters, Doris Mavrikis, Billie Stringer; three Great Grandchildren, Joshua Parker, Waylon Parker and Jocelynn Parker; A host of nephews, nieces, ands friends; Brother-In-Law, Bobby Lankford.
Pallbearers will be James Parker, Thomas Parker, Michael Parker, Chris Finely, Jason Ramshur, and Scott Robertson. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Hutt and Greg Manton.
