Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Hathorn Funeral Home for James "Cornbread" Eugene Breakfield Sr., 84, of Columbia, who passed away Monday, August 16, 2021. ­­Rev. Millard Moak will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Hathorn Funeral Home.

Mr. Breakfield was a lifetime resident of Marion County, and he loved spending time working on his land and tending to cattle. He enjoyed working on vehicles and tractors, and he loved his family dearly. Always willing to help anyone in need, Mr. Breakfield epitomized a good Samaritan. He was a Korean War Veteran and spent two years overseas. He will be greatly missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Earl Breakfield; Mother, Lola Breakfield; one Daughter, Marlene Breakfield.

He is survived by his Wife of 57 years, Marion Breakfield; two Sons, James E. Breakfield, Jr. (Kerri), William F. Breakfield; one Daughter, Adrianne Stringer (Brant); one Brother, John Breakfield (Terri); three Granddaughters, Kirsten Pantermoller (Steven), Kyleigh Breakfield, Emily Breakfield; three Grandsons, Daniel Breakfield, Jacob Breakfield, Aidan Breakfield; three Great-Grandsons, Evan Pantermoller, Jace Pantermoller, Nathaniel Breakfield; one beloved Niece, Connie Kalmar (Keith); and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Breakfield, Jacob Breakfield, Aidan Breakfield, Steven Pantermoller, Daniel Hogan, and Gene Peters. Honorary Pallbearers will be Evan Pantermoller, Jace Pantermoller, and Nathaniel Breakfield.
