Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2023 at 2:00 pm for Helen Syble Speights Crout, 98, of Columbia, who passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023. Interment will be at Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. David McNeil and Pastor Jerron Carney will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Helen Sybil Crout passed from this life into the presence of Jesus Christ on December 30, 2023 at the age of 98. She was Born September 24, 1925 in Bassfield, Mississippi to Stephen Ellis Speights and Geneva Speights. She was employed with J.C Penny for 20 years and retired. She was a faithful church member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was always loving, caring and devoted to her family.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Herman Louis  Crout, Sr. one Grandson Robert Creel.

She is survived by her three Children: one Son, Louis "Shorty" Crout (Beth); two Daughters, Barbara Hunt and Connie Thompson, all of Columbia. One Grandson, Phillip Hunt of Hazel Green, Alabama; two Step-Grandsons, Patrick Robertson (Stephanie) of Star, Mississippi and Steve Robertson (Dana) of Starkville, Mississippi; one Sister, Muriel McCain; one Brother in law, James Bryant; one Sister in law, Betty Speights all of Columbia and many Nieces and Nephews with a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Dan Speights, Tom Speights, Pat Robertson, George McCain, Paul Barron and Steve Robertson. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve McCain, Jim McCain and F.D. McCain.
