Obituary

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at North Columbia Baptist Church in Columbia for Grace Nell Stogner, 88, of Columbia, who passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at The Grove. Interment will be at Centerville Landmark Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Dexter. Rev. Tommy Stogner will officiate the services. Aaron McKenzie will provide special music.

The family will receive guests on Friday evening from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Hathorn Funeral Home; and again on Saturday morning from 9:00 am up until the hour of service at 10:00 am at North Columbia Baptist Church.

Grace was a devoted pillar of the Columbia community and a beloved matriarch. She leaves behind a legacy of faith and service. A longtime resident of Columbia, Grace dedicated 18 years of service through her work at Columbia City Hall. Her life was defined by her unwavering commitment to the Lord. She was a faithful member of North Columbia Baptist Church for over fifty years, where she was an integral and spirited participant in her Ladies Sunday School class.

Beyond her community involvement, Grace was the heart of her home. A talented homemaker, she created a warm and welcoming environment for all who entered. Nothing brought her more joy than her family, and she will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who poured her love into every generation. Grace truly cherished the time spent visiting with her many dear friends. Her kindness, steady faith, and bright spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Herschel Stogner; her Son, Dwight Sandifer; her Parents, Wink & Dixie Rushing McKenzie; two Brothers, Dan McKenzie, Hance McKenzie; and one Sister, Lottie Brumfield.

She is survived by her Son, Ricky Sandifer (Laura), of Columbia; her Daughter, Sherry Butler, of Columbia; three Grandchildren, Steven Jones, of Columbia, Matt Sandifer (Melanie), of Petal, Brent Sandifer (Emily), of Columbia; six Great Grandchildren, Gracie Jones, Mikie Jones, Gunner Sandifer, Carly Sandifer, Claudia Jones, Colton Sandifer; and a number of Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, and Great Nephews.

Mrs. Stogner will be carried to her final place of rest by those honored to serve as Pallbearers; they include Steven Jones, Mikie Jones, Brent Sandifer, Matt Sandifer, Gunner Sandifer, and Buddy McKenzie.
