Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia for George Clinton Summers, 91, of Florence, who passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Villa South. Interment will be at Kokomo Community Cemetery in Kokomo. Rev. Len Mc Raney and Dr. Ronnie Morgan will officiate the services. Lucas Stringer will provide special music.
The Summers family will receive friends on Saturday morning, beginning at 10:00 am until the hour of service at 12:00 pm at Hathorn Funeral Home.
Clinton Summers, a man of unwavering faith and diverse talents, passed away peacefully. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, and throughout his life, he found joy and purpose in praying for others and listening to gospel music. His career path was varied, including roles as a banker, working for the MS Tax Commission, Country Cash, and Aflac Insurance. A faithful member of Kokomo Chapel, Clinton's devotion extended to his family, whom he loved dearly. He also found fulfillment in farming and meticulously tending to his yard, reflecting his deep connection to the land.
He was preceded in death by his Wife, Elois Barber Summers; Father, Herbert Summers; Mother, Georgia Stewart Summers; Brother, John Buford Summers; two Brothers-In-Law, Chrisler Allen and Ed Walley.
He is survived by his two Sons, Chet Summers (Danita) of Purvis, Randy Summers (Ebby) of Florence; four Grandchildren, Drew Summers (Jennifer), Courtney McKenzie (Robert), Cheyney Statham (Daniel) and Daniel Welch (Katy); two Sisters, Sarah Allen and Betty Sue Walley; Sister in law, Nell Summers, eight Great Grandchildren, Summer Statham, Daniel "Man Man" Statham, Landon Statham, Hunter Summers, Amelia Grace Summers, Robbie McKenzie, Liza Kate Summers and Rylan McKenzie; And a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.
Mr. Summers will be carried to his final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers; they include Daniel Statham, Robert McKenzie, Mike Summers, Daniel "Man Man" Statham, Landon Statham, and Drew Summers. Honorary pallbearers will be his best friends, Jack Toney and John Boyles.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff and residence of Villa South, Florence, MS for their unwavering love and care.
