Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Columbia for George Ford May, 73 of Columbia, who passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026. Interment will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Columbia. Rev. Tommy Broom will officiate the services. Chris Turnage will provide special music.
The May family will receive guests on Saturday morning from 10:00 am up until the hour of service at 11:30 am at Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
Born on November 26, 1952 in Columbia, George was a lifelong resident. George dedicated many years of service to his church, where he was a devoted deacon at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Professionally, George enjoyed a long and successful career as an electrician in the oil and gas industry, eventually retiring from Hess. Beyond his professional and spiritual life, he was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in fishing and hunting. His presence will be deeply missed by his family, his church brothers and sisters, and the community he called home for his entire life.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Joe Box & Ernestine Ford May; and two Brothers, David May, Phillip May.
He is survived by his Wife of fifty years, Patsy Stogner May, of Columbia; two Sons, Scott May (Amy), of Columbia, Eric May, of Columbia; one Brother, Tom May, of Columbia; and one Grandchild, Jaelynn Peak, of Columbia.
Mr. May will be carried to his final resting place by those honored to serve as Pallbearers; Jonathan Kerley, Jason Kerley, Lance Jarrell, Tommy May, Andrew May, and Raymond May. Joe Breland will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer.
The family asks that memorial donations be made in George's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org.
