Frankie
Sistrunk
December 26, 1944 – November 29, 2025
Visitation will be held at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Frankie Sistrunk, age 80, of Lumberton passed away peacefully at home on November 29, 2025, surrounded by his family. Frankie was a man of few words, but one thing was certain, he never failed to let his family know how much he loved them. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he loved them immensely.
Frankie served in the Army National Guard for six years where he was an expert rifleman sharpshooter. He was honorably discharged in 1968. After his time spent in the National Guard, he was employed at Griner Drilling Service where he worked for 41 years until he retired in 2012. In his spare time and after retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and painting. He also enjoyed riding his side-by-side, tractors, tending to his garden, mowing grass every other day and watching television. Two of his favorite shows were wrestling and westerns. He was also an avid reader. He loved when his family came to visit, even the grand dogs "the pests" as he called them. Those "pests" could always count on him to share his marshmallows or any other food he had with them.
Frankie is preceded in death by his parents, James and Martha Sistrunk and four brothers, Paul Sistrunk, Lavon Sistrunk, Allen Sistrunk, and Ricky Sistrunk.
He is survived by his Wife of 50 years, Helen Fay Sistrunk, of Lumberton; Daughters, Amanda Stringer (Tim) and Christy Mitchell, both of Columbia; Son, Shane Sistrunk (Jennifer) of Columbia, five Grandchildren, Karley Weise (Trevor) of Biloxi, Dylan Mitchell (Brooke) of Perkinston, Braydon Sistrunk, Natalie Stringer and Kaden Sistrunk, all of Columbia; one Great Granddaughter, Kinzley Mitchell of Perkinston, and one Great Granddaughter on the way, Kollins Weise; four Sisters, Nell McGill, Rita Henderson, Theresa Peak, and Pauline Raynes and one Brother, Reggie Sistrunk, all of Columbia, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.
His absence on Earth will leave a great void in the lives of all who knew him. He will forever remain in our hearts.
