Obituary

Edna Carolyn Breakfield, 83, of Columbia, MS passed away peacefully on March 29,2026. She was the daughter of Thomas Valgene and Edna Loraine McKee and grew up in the United Methodist Church. Shortly after graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Jerry, for whom she was married for 58 years.

Early in their marriage, they joined First Baptist Church and started a family. They enjoyed many activities together, such as the bowling league, supper club with their closest friends, riding and showing Tennessee walking horses, attending MS State football games, and traveling around the country.

Carolyn was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and sewing for her family. She loved flowers and was a member of the Golden Acres Garden Club, the decoration committee at First Baptist, and was a member of the Marion County Red Hat Society. She was also an avid reader.

One of her favorite joys was spending time with family, and relaxing on her country front porch, sharing coffee with her husband, as they watched wildlife wander by. She also cherished her Yorkshire terrier, Muffin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Jerry E. Breakfield.

She is survived by 3 children: Cindy Lick (Chuck) of Oakland, TN, Glenda Petroff (Richard) of Covington, LA, and Eddie Breakfield (Kim) of Decatur, AL. 8 grandchildren: Amanda Faucheux (Chris), Rachel Smith (Sam), Ryan Petroff, Drew Lick (Katin), Erin Allen (Zachary), Morgan Breakfield (Dagan), Mary Claire Skipper (Nathan), Alexis White, and 8 great grandchildren: Madison Faucheux, Emma Faucheux, Everly Allen, Hayes Allen, Cooper Breakfield, Kate Breakfield, Mary Ryan Skipper, and John Thomas Skipper. 2 sisters: Martha Smith (Dale) of Belle Chasse, LA, and Peggy Windham (Shelby) of Mobile, AL, along with many nieces and nephews.
