Earnest, a true "Prince of a Man," passed away leaving behind a legacy defined by humility, honesty, and a deeply caring heart. Born in Lamar County on May 14, 1944, Earnest’s lifelong journey of faith began with his baptism in the waters of the creek at Rocky Branch Missionary Baptist Church. For over fifty years, he was a cornerstone of West Black Creek Baptist Church, serving as a longtime, faithful member who loved attending services alongside his beloved wife and children. Earnest was also well-known for his beautiful voice, singing Gospel music and performing passionately in church and at singing conventions.
Professionally, he dedicated a long and respected career as the Parts Manager at Watts Brothers Tractor & Implement in Columbia, where his integrity and expertise shone bright. A man of simple but rich pleasures, Earnest found immense joy in taking memorable trips to the Smoky Mountains, coon hunting, working on old tractor parts, tending to his garden, and keeping his lawn absolutely immaculate.
Above all, his favorite title was "Paw," a name affectionately used by all of his family. He cherished the moments spent taking his grandchildren down to the creek, sharing cold slices of watermelon, and creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
He was preceded in death by his Parents Johnnie & Jessie Lee Riley Williamson; three Brothers, Lavoy Williamson, Ralph Williamson, Hansel Williamson; and one Sister, Beverly Smith.
He is survived by his Wife of 62 years, Brenda Moree Williamson, of Sumrall; one Son, Michael Williamson (Angie), of Sumrall; two Daughters, Trish Hathorn (John), of Sumrall, Melissa Holland; three Grandchildren, Colton Williamson (Tristan), of Savannah, Tennessee, Trenton Williamson, of Sumrall, Adrienne Bounds (Calvin), of Sumrall; and four Great Grandchildren, Justice Williamson, Luke Williamson, Lilah Williamson, Adalynn Bounds.
Mr. Williamson will be carried to his final resting place by those honored to serve as Pallbearers; Colton Williamson, Trenton Williamson, Phillip Moree, Calvin Bounds, Allen Mulford, Josh Moree, Tony Moree, David Williamson, and Jeff Williamson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Justice Williamson and Luke Williamson.
